Aquasense Low Voltage Lighting Installation

Many companies install low voltage lighting systems, so what sets Aquasense apart from the competition?

On long wire runs we use a vibratory plow to install wiring conduit. This means your system is installed to a higher standard, but in some cases at a lower cost.

Why?

1. The poly conduit we use provides excellent protection for the wiring.
2. Pulling conduits causes minimal surface damage keeping landscapes in better shape than traditional trenching.
3.  The wiring is permanently contained in the conduit about 6” deep.

LED or Halogen Systems: As with everything else in lighting, the market is quickly going to LED. (Light emitting diodes) All of the quality lighting manufactures offer fixtures in LED or halogen and most halogen fixtures can be converted to LED using aftermarket LED bulbs. In contrast to older halogen lighting systems LED lighting systems can run for years without a bulb failure. LED replacement bulbs carry a 5 year warranty and LED fixtures come with a 10 year warranty. In addition to lower maintenance LED uses approximately 80% less power than halogen which allows for smaller transformers and less wiring for new installations.

Power Conserving Smart Lighting Timers: In addition to the tune-up we can also upgrade old school mechanical timers and photocells with power conserving smart timers in just a few minutes. These great little timers eliminate the use of conventional photocells and mechanical timer from a lighting system by using sunrise – sunset calculations. The timer not only automatically adjusts the on/off times every day of the year; it also automatically adjusts for daylight savings time and can be set to turn off at midnight or any other specified time.  Additionally they have nonvolatile memory and a battery backup that resets the time in the event of a power failure.  In contrast, mechanical timers always need to be re-set after a power failure. They are also especially useful for transformers that are mounted in dark locations.  The timer eliminates wasted power on dark winter days when photocells are not sensitive enough to shut lighting systems off. These timers are basically designed to be programmed once, and then forgotten.  This upgrade can now be done on 95% of all lighting systems. Using smart timers in conjunction with new LED bulbs we can cut power usage by up 90%.

Fixture Brands: We have access to almost every lighting brand available but prefer to use either Vista or FX Luminaire.

Professional Grade Shrink Wrap Connectors: We recommend that all wire and fixture splices be upgraded to professional grade shrink-wrap. Waterproof wire nuts work OK but they tend to leak after a few years and eventually water seeps down the wiring which results in corrosion. As the wiring corrodes the flow of electricity is slowly decreased causing lights to burn dimmer. Upgrading to professional grade shrink-wrap connectors greatly increases the life span of the wiring and keeps bulbs burning brighter for longer.

Warranty: Newly installed lighting systems come with a 3 year warranty parts and labor if professional grade shrink wrap connectors are used on all wire splices. The warranty on lighting fixtures and transformer varies by manufacture – the minimum is 3 years on fixtures and most transformers are warranted for a minimum of 10 years. Halogen bulbs come with a 6 month warranty for new installed systems. Unless otherwise specified LED light bulbs come with a 5 year warranty for newly installed systems. The warranty includes replacement labor for the 1st year.  After the 1st year replacement labor is not covered and replacements need to be scheduled during other service appointments such as lighting or sprinkler tune-ups, backflow testing, water feature maintenance or sprinkler winterizing. As an option, bulbs can dropped at your front door step. Vista LED fixtures come with a 10 year warranty on the fixture and 3 years on the labor.
