Landscape Lighting Tune-Ups: Similar to our sprinkler tune-up service we also offer a lighting system tune-up. The service includes the following:
1) Replace burnt bulbs; we stock 15 different types of bulbs in each truck.
2) We also test photocells and timers for proper functionality and re-set or replace if necessary.
3) Diagnose and repair wiring issues. Each truck carries equipment to trace low voltage lighting wire which allows us isolate wire breaks.
4) Clean the lenses of spot lights with a special cleaner. Sometimes spot light lenses become oxidized – this can greatly decrease the brightness of the fixtures.
5) Prune back foliage from fixtures.
So we don’t waste time re-learning the components of your lighting system we document how many transformers you have, there location, size and brand. We also track what type of timer or photocell each transformer uses and you’re preferred on/off time. Tracking this data allows us to service your lighting system more efficiently on subsequent visits. The cost of the service is billed hourly and on average a standard size residential lighting system takes 1 to 2 hours to tune. Lighting system repair labor is billed at $75.00 for the 1st man hour and $58.00 for additional man hours of repair.
Power Conserving Smart Lighting Timers: In addition to the tune-up we can also upgrade old school mechanical timers and photocells with power conserving smart timers in just a few minutes. These great little timers eliminate the use of conventional photocells and mechanical timer from a lighting system by using sunrise – sunset calculations. The timer not only automatically adjusts the on/off times every day of the year; it also automatically adjusts for daylight savings time and can be set to turn off at midnight or any other specified time. Additionally they have nonvolatile memory and a battery backup that resets the time in the event of a power failure. In contrast, mechanical timers always need to be re-set after a power failure. They are also especially useful for transformers that are mounted in dark locations. The timer eliminates wasted power on dark winter days when photocells are not sensitive enough to shut lighting systems off. These timers are basically designed to be programmed once, and then forgotten. This upgrade can now be done on 95% of all lighting systems. Using smart timers in conjunction with new LED bulbs we can cut power usage by up 90%.
Fixture Replacements / Repairs: Do you have fixtures that are physically broken that need replacement? We have access to almost any professional grade fixture line and can get replacements fixtures if needed. Each truck also stocks replacement path light stakes & stems.
